We have a network of experienced marine professionals up and down the coast.
Licensed and Unlicensed Captains, Deckhands, Fishermen and Boat Owners who are available to provide services as they are required.
Onboard Fisheries Liaisons
We can provide experienced fishermen with local knowledge to work as OFL’s and collect data as per Wind Farm Protocols.
It is Important to Have Fishermen Onboard the Geo-Survey Vessels Who “Speak The Language” of The Fishermen.
One of the biggest complaints read on social media, blog posts and various news articles is lack of local boat involvement or local jobs. Complaints are typically that the boats and crews are “Not From Here” or the OFL’s don’t know much about the local fishing styles, procedures and protocols.
We Have a Network of experienced – semi-retired commercial fishermen wanting to work as Onboard Fisheries Liaisons (OFL’s) who know the area, the fishing procedures and in many cases are well known amongst the local fishing community.
Hiring local personnel and ‘getting the word out will goes a very long way in creating a more positive environment within the community.
Our Onboard Fisheries Liaisons posses the following qualifications:
- Experience speaks for itself. Knowledge about vessels and fishing gear, navigation and the ability to talk on the radio as necessary to communicate with fishing boats in the area. Offshore Wind Farms have been experiencing friction from local fishermen and to have a local person with experience and the ability to speak directly into a community, will go a long way in providing a more positive experience.
- Tech Savvy: Documentation is important and basic computer and word processing skills along with the ability to operate a camera and take pictures for documentation is important.
- Personality: Living on a vessel can sometimes challenge people with varying levels of expertise, jobs descriptions and personalities. It is important to place the right personality onboard a Geo-Survey vessel.
We take pride in the fact that we personally interview and “vet” the people as new hires as Fisheries Liaisons and Observers.
The 2021 summer survey season is right around the corner and we have a network of experienced semi retired commercial fishermen ready to go to work.
